Mr. Fischer has spent over 25+ years in the Business Continuity field, working with a broad range of clients in many different industries. He is a Certified Disaster Recovery Planner and a Fellow of the Business Continuity Institute (London). His in-depth knowledge of telecommunications technologies and economics, combined with experience in Information Systems data protection and security, provides him a unique set of skills.

Seattle Children’s’ Hospital 1– Determine key stakeholder business continuity objectives, analyze existing & proposed plans for IT infrastructure to determine what, if any, changes or enhancements could be made to minimize business continuity risks that could threaten the key stakeholders’ stated IT objectives and provide business continuity recommendations for production data center location, data network connectivity between the production data center and user community and the protection & backup of processing capabilities and availability of user data to meet worst case scenario expectations.
Seattle Children’s’ Hospital 2 - Participate as a member of the Children’s data center design/build team, provide oversight for data center design/build project and provide contract personnel with specialties required for the design/build project as requested and approved by the Project Manager. Determine location for a backup data center, select co-location provider, select network provider and negotiate contracts.
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center - Designed a Business Continuity Management (BCM) program to facilitate the continuity of critical research and business activities during and following disruptive situations and events.
Jorgensen Forge Company - A fully integrated open die forging facility serving the aircraft, aerospace, oil and gas, marine and defense markets. Designed a Business Continuity Management Program for manufacturing operations area including risk identification and mitigation strategies.
University of Texas M. D. Anderson Cancer Center - located in Houston. One of the world’s most respected centers devoted exclusively to cancer patient care, research, education and prevention.
Provide onsite instruction on project management tools and skills to track existing and future Business Continuity projects, develop timelines for existing and future projects, review existing business continuity projects, develop a change management process / methodology and supporting tool(s), review existing business continuity methodology and develop detailed strategic program roadmap.
Boeing – Produces commercial and military airplanes. Designed and managed a project to develop and produce Pandemic Continuity Plans based on anticipated loss of work force, disease spread control techniques, employee presence tracking and work force skill level analysis.
News Corp - News Corporation is a diversified international entertainment company with operations in eight industry segments. Performed risk assessment, developed risk mitigation strategies and business continuity plans for the Fox Interactive Media group.
First Coast Service Options - A subsidiary of Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Florida that provides Intermediary Medicare claims processing service to the Health Care industry - Implemented a Business Continuity Program which included assessing FCSO’s needs & risks, developed Business Recovery Plans for all critical path departments including development of a high availability call answering strategy. Training was provided to staff at all levels and plans were tested.
U.S. Army PEO Ammo - Supply Chain risk analysis feasibility study, which included production of propellants, bombs and artillery projectiles.
Kaiser Permanente 1 - Largest Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) in the U.S. - Performed an Intuitive Business Impact Analysis (BIA) which was used to build the business case for an organization-wide Business Continuity Program.
Kaiser Permanente 2 - Provide leadership, expertise and training to KP staff during implementation of the Business Continuity Program methodology for all departments in the Northwest and Hawaii Regions, five Medical Centers and their supporting Medical Office Buildings, all Payroll Operations, all Pharmacy Operations, KPIT and Headquarters organizations. This required detailed project planning, risk assessment, plan development, staff training and plan testing of over 2000 departments located in more than 100 locations.

United Government Services - A subsidiary of Wellpoint Corporation that provides Intermediary Medicare/Medicaid claims processing service to the Health Care industry - Implemented a Business Continuity Program, which included assessing UGS’s needs & risks, developing site specific Emergency Response Plans & department specific Business Recovery Plans for all UGS locations and a corporate Crisis Management Plan. Training was provided to staff at all levels and all plans were tested.
MCI - A Fortune 500 telecommunications company. - Provided independent audit of MCI network engineering efforts to provide a major customer with end-to-end network diversity and high availability of mission critical multi-point private lines, frame relay circuits and ISDN/Voice services. The diversity recommendations included WorldCom local and broadband network routing, Local Exchange Carrier routing and the use of alternate carriers; including the use of wireless transport facilities (microwave) for on-net and metropolitan area campus solutions.
CSX Corporation - A Fortune 500 transportation company - Developed requirements for voice and data telecommunications diversity requirements and facilitated development of project plan, resource requirements, functional unit responsibilities and timelines.
Lucent - A Fortune 500 telecommunications equipment manufacturer - Assessed the value, economics and feasibility of using a specific type of microwave radio system for business continuity and disaster recovery solutions.
Nike - A Fortune 500 sport shoe & apparel company - Developed Y2K programs for assessment of their manufacturing plants’ embedded systems, supply chain analysis of manufacturing and global Treasury & Finance operations. Developed risk mitigation strategies and contingency plans that included designing and building a work group recovery center for world-wide Treasury & Finance operations. Managed fifteen consultants and provided the program interface to the Enterprise Program Office.
IBM (Sequent Computers) - A Fortune 500 computer manufacturer - Reviewed and analyzed Y2K internal, customer and supply chain risks. Reviewed corporate and departmental plans and made recommendations on global Y2K contingency plans developed for the Sequent Computer Business Units.
