What is Business Continuity?
Business Continuity is comprised of an entire spectrum of enterprise risk management requirements.
The six coordinated plans:
- Emergency Response – First response – protect life, safety & assets
- IT Disaster Recovery – Continuity of network access to computer applications & data
- Business Unit Recovery – Continuity of critical business functions & processes
- Crisis Management – Senior Management decision making & response
- Risk Mitigation – Identify threats, hazards & vulnerabilities and determine options to eliminate or reduce potential impacts
- Restoration – Returning to normal operations after an event
To develop these plans in an efficient and cost effective manner, many critical areas of the enterprise must be considered to develop the strategies and actions that will be required to recover from a disastrous event. Risk identification and mitigation strategies are important components of the planning process to ensure that the preventable risks don’t cause your disaster. |
